Why might I see a sudden decrease in my number of followers?
We're in the process of fixing an issue that incorrectly includes inactive or fake accounts in follower/following lists. We want to maintain the best possible experience on Instagram, so we do our best to remove spam, fake accounts and other people and posts that don't follow our Community Guidelines. As we remove these accounts, some people may notice a decrease in their follower/following counts.
Note: This issue was fixed for the majority of Instagrammers in April 2014. By the end of December 2014, it should be fixed for the remaining members of the Instagram community.
What types of accounts get removed from Instagram?

You May Start To See
A Timer On The Bottom of When You Go to Write a Message
added a countdown timer on the Message page to help members who write long messages.
You can ignore the timer if you write short messages. This was done because
the server only allows a maximum session time of 60 minutes.
60 minutes is not new. All pages on the website have always had this session
limit.
It is not something specific to the message page either.
This is a server setting that has been in affect from the beginning.
They Dont Want Anybody To Lose Any of The Messages That They Are Writing
So They Thought It Would Be a Good Idea To Add This

Never Assume That Its Really From The Company
And Never Ever Give Out Your Account Information To Them
If You Get Text Messages
You Should Contact Your Wireless Carrier Right Away
The Sooner You Report It To Your Carrier
The Sooner They Will Get Caught
Dont Let Them Get Away With It
We Need To Punish Scammers And Show Them We Mean Business When it Comes
